Faster I am faster.. Went riding yesterday first time I did this ride on the new bike and it was fun. I was much faster up and down hills and I almost made the big hill in one go, only a short pause half way up.

I am liking the new bike it is fun to ride and feels good also my legs have stretched out more and I have lessened the pains and aches and even the left heel is feeling much improved.

City 2 Surf

First off I am not a full time runner, I find running to be difficult as I have issues with my feet and tendons that hurt, I also find it difficult to enjoy the scenery etc as I am running as I need to concentrate on the running part, maybe this will change over time and if I keep trying, well the scenery part at any rate the sore feet bit is probably not going to change as soon as I would like.

So all that being said yesterday, I did my first ever city to surf run, 14Km of road running with some 86000 odd other people. I had worked out in my mind that I would approach this run by breaking it up into two runs and a walk, given that the course is 6Km to the big hill and then the hill is approx. 2Km long and then you get the final 6Km with a few not necesarrily well placed hills or rises to contend with.

The first 6Ks was fine I managed to get to the hill without too much strife and trouble maybe a few people barging me out of the way and some more fancy side stepping to get past some slower paced entrants. I was hanging out for some water by the time I got to the first water table at 4Km.

The Hill, what can I say it is long and steep and I chickens out and walked up it, albeit at a faster walk not a slow one as I always have trouble stopping and then starting again.

On from there buy the time I got to the 10K marker I was feeling the effort of this run and I started to slow down and was grateful for the frequent and regular drink tables that I was passing. Now at about the 12K mark the road starts to go down hill to Bondi beach and seeing the beach was a joy as I knew the end was in site, the end is one of my favourite things about running. So I made down the hill and did not even say abad word to the people who had already finished the run and were walking back up the hill with their news papers and drinks.. There were a lot of people watching the runners stream past along Campbell Parade and even a few who were determined to cross over the road despite the river of people.

Weight loss

The verdict is in! After eight weeks of exercising and eating better I can report the following.. Lauren is of course not impressed ( or at least does not show it) I however am very impressed with my self.. Some actual results to hold on to.

Waist : Was 123cm.. Today 109cm... 14cm Loss...
Weight: Was 106.4kgs - Today 104.7kgs. Total loss of 1.7kgs
Push ups: original 10 (on knees) - Today 5 on feet
Sit ups: original 0 - Today 5!!! Awesome
1.6km walk: original 15.48 mins - Today 12.58 mins. Smashed it!

What is on my mind

At this time and for ever probably the main thing on my mind is losing weight ad getting fitter. I have to keep in mind the eating and drinking things as well as making sure I exercise more.. Maybe much more.

I have signed up to a gym and I am going 4 times a week for at least one hour and strangely enough actually exercising whilst I am there.

Other things are walking.. 10000 steps every day and now I have fixed up my push bike I think some bike rides will be called for, here are some that can be done.

Any way I am now 8 weeks into this excursion I have got the stamina thing back and I can now start to really push myself, so eat and drink less exercise more that is the motto for me for the rest of my life.

Curse you country

Country V City rugby league has a lot to answer for, Soward had better be fit and ready for club duties as that is all that counts
